Unknown armed men, have invaded Koro community, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing the community’s monarch, Olukoro of Koro, General Segun Aremu, (rtd) and abducting his wife, alongside two others.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while confirming the evil incident, condemned the killing of the Olukoro of Koro, describing it as reckless, shocking and abominable.
He urged the security agencies not to spare any resources to trace the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring the perpetrators to book.
“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” the Governor said, adding: “My profound condolences go to the people of Koro.”
“Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” he said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Thursday night.
A source in the state police command in Ilorin also confirmed the development, pointing out that police operatives have started investigation, just as search and rescue operation has been launched for the abducted victims.
Koro community in Kwara State, is a neighbouring town of Irele/Oke, Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun and Ikole of Ekiti State.
