Biden throwing ‘oil on fire’ by allowing Ukraine use US missiles inside Russia – Kremlin
US President Joe Biden has given the green light for Ukraine to use long-range US missiles to strike inside Russia
The news has not been formally announced, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said “the missiles will speak for themselves”
Russia says Biden is throwing “oil on fire” – although Vladimir Putin himself is yet to comment
The US will reportedly allow Ukraine to use the missiles to hold onto the small chunk of Russian territory it occupies in Kursk
The US apparently made its decision after Russia allowed North Korean troops to fight alongside Russians in Kursk.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence says its forces have claimed another village – Novooleksandrivka – in the Donetsk region.
It comes as Russia continues its broader offensive in the area, during which it has gradually been making gains towards the small mining city of Pokrovsk – a logistics hub used by Ukrainian forces.
The BBC is unable to independently verify Russia’s claim, but the fighting around Pokrovsk is some of the most intense in recent weeks as Russian forces work their way north-west.
