Daredevil gunmen kill 16-year old after attacking police station, INEC office in Anambra
In a brutal and brazen show of insensitivity and lawlessness, daredevil gunmen have attacked the Idemili South LG office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra state
The gunmen were also said to have launched a brazen attack on the Nnobi police station, with a teenager being killed while another sustained gunshot injury in the police station attack.
Confirming the sad development, Public Relations Officer of the Anambra Police Command, Tochukwu Ikengg said the attack took place in the wee hours of Wednesday.
“The hoodlums, who came in their numbers at about 1:45 a.m. today with four unmarked Sienna cars, armed with improvised explosive devices, petrol bombs, invaded the INEC office, the police station and a residential building within the station”, said Ikenga.
He added that, “Unfortunately, a 16-year-old relative of a serving policeman in the station was murdered by the armed men while another 15-year-old girl sustained gunshot injury.”
The Anambra police spokesperson said that the injured girl was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Ikenga noted that the Anambra police command has beefed up security deployment in the state in direct response to the spate of attacks by unknown gunmen.
