Kylian Mbappe resumed individual training at Real Madrid after missing France duty as he continues his recovery from a recent injury.
Mbappe is back at Madrid after a week in which he made headlines for the wrong reasons. First, Didier Deschamps was forced to dismiss the idea that France buckled under pressure from Real Madrid to leave him out of their latest squad. Then there was Mbappe’s visit to a nightclub in Sweden – on the same night that his France team-mates played against Israel.
It’s hardly a surprise that reports recently emerged doubting Mbappe’s commitment to his country. Worse still, the 25-year-old hit out at a report that police are investigating an allegation of rape that was made at the same hotel that Mbappe and his friends stayed at in Stockholm. So he’ll be pleased to return his focus to football and stepping up his recovery from a recent injury.
A club statement read: “Kylian Mbappé continues to work on his individual fitness plan. The forward is working on his own as he tries to recover fully from the discomfort in the biceps femoris of his left leg. This afternoon, he trained on his own in the gym and out on the pitch at Real Madrid City, under the guidance of Antonio Pintus, who is in charge of the club’s physical preparation.”
Mbappe also posted on Instagram and was happy to be “back at work” as he shared images of his session in the gym and out on the training pitch.
The forward, who joined Los Blancos in the summer, will hope to be ready for their trip to Celta Vigo on Saturday. If that game comes too soon then he’ll have eyes on the Champions League contest against Borussia Dortmund three days later.
