PDP appoints Dogara into PDP campaign council

few days after declaring support for Atiku

 

Three days  after endorsing the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, a former speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has been appointed a member of the PDP presidential campaign council (PCC).
Disclosing this in a statement on Sunday, director general of the PDP PCC and governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, said the Dogara  would bring his wealth of experience to count in the favour of Atiku, who is in a direct contest for the presidential seat against APC standard bearer Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi of Labour Party. His appointment takes immediate effect.
Dogara’s appointment is coming after the Northern Leaders Consultative Forum, which Dogara is an integral member of had endorsed Atiku and termed him “the best.”
But is unclear if Dogara, a northern Christian and a high ranking member of the All Progressives Congress  has renounced his membership of the ruling party.
TMY Newspapers reports that Dogara strongly kicked against the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by the APC as both Tinubu and his running mate for February presidential polls Kashim Shettima,  are noth Muslims.
It is recalled that in 2018, a year to the last presidential election won by Muhammadu Buhari,  Dogara did defect from the PDP to the APC because of of what he terned as “failure of governance” in Bauchi, where he originates from
