Romeomania’s V.A.R album delivers top notch music rooted in love

French musician, Stafford Roméo Souverin, better known as Romeomania, has been melting hearts with his last released album V.A.R (True Love Resists). Although released into the music market last November, this deeply personal project, made up of 11 tracks, explores the many facets of love through stories that are both intimate and universal.

Originally from the French Caribbean, Romeomania grew up in Guadeloupe before moving to Paris. He first made his mark with the Kreyòl rap group Washla, later launching his solo career in 2017, making his name in genres like Afrobeat, hip hop, and Afro Trap (Wikipedia).
His breakout single “Ça va aller” brought him international recognition, especially in Côte d’Ivoire, where it charted in the Top 30 on Trace Africa. His song “Vraie Beauté Africaine”, a tribute to African beauty, also earned a spot on the TV5 Monde playlist Wikipedia

Each track on the V.A.R album captures an emotion, a moment, or a state of mind:“Dans mes bras”, a duet with his 10 year-old daughter Romanda, expresses the tenderness of family love.

Divorce also featuring Romanda, reflects on the pain of a family separation.Comme “Avant” and “À Deux” explore romantic nostalgia and the hope of rekindled love.

The title track V.A.R (True Love Resists and “Ça Ira” both carry a message of hope and resilience a love that withstands judgment, trials, and setbacks.
Finally, “Real Madrid”, featuring LeZrk, brings a playful edge, comparing the intensity of love to the passion of a football match.

The album was recorded at ManiaMusic Studio, produced by Edmond A., with Romeomania himself as executive producer alongside KOWKOW, Mehdy C., Amanda V., DJ Bookey, and Wendyyy King. Edmond A. handled mixing and mastering, with additional vocals from Lanose D., Rebecca J., and Romanda. The album runs for approximately 33 minutes (Romeomania).

A Clear Path Forward

From the start of his solo career, Romeomania has built a strong following among Francophone African audiences, especially in Abidjan, where he is seen as a rising figure in Afrobeat. His collaborations with artists like Shado Chris, Rico Amaj, and Mike Alabi on the hit “OGA” showcase his ability to fuse Caribbean rhythms with urban Afro sounds.
