Oluyede redeploys GOCs, appoints new MNJTF commander in major army shake-up
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the appointment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, and a new Commander for the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, said the redeployment is part of a strategic reshuffle.
He said the reshuffle aims to enhance the army’s capacity to tackle emerging security challenges and support the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
“The Chief of Army Staff has directed all newly appointed senior officers to bring renewed vigour, dedication, and commitment to their duties, particularly while ensuring the sustenance of the ongoing onslaught against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security,” Nwachukwu said.
“…the welfare of troops remained paramount as they assumed their new appointments.”
GM Mutkut was appointed the new force commander of the MNJTF, moving from his previous position at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre to Headquarters MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad.
OT Olatoye was appointed as the new GOC 82 Division and commander of Joint Task Force Operation Udoka (OPUK), transitioning from his role at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.
Meanwhile, EF Oyinlola was appointed as the GOC of 3 Division and commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), moving from the Department of Military Secretary.
Other key appointments include AGL Haruna, who has been confirmed as GOC 7 Division and Commander of Sector 1 of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, while IA Ajose was appointed as GOC 8 Division and commander of Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fasan Yanma.
In addition, several senior officers were appointed as principal staff officers (PSOs) at the army headquarters.
These include LA Fejokwu, appointed as chief of administration (army), GU Chibuisi as chief of civil military affairs, and AS Ndalolo as chief of training (army).
OS Abai was appointed chief of transformation and innovation, while JH Abdussalam is now the chief of special services and programmes.
Other notable redeployments include EI Okoro, who is now the military secretary (army), and MC Kangye, who was appointed director of media operations at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
In the corps commanders’ appointments, OC Ajunwa was appointed commander of the Nigerian Army Armour Corps, HT Wesley as commander of the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps, and TT Numbere as commander of the Nigerian Army Engineers.
NC Ugbo is now the commander of the Nigerian Army Signals, while ZL Abubakar was appointed commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery.
